The Author Networking Project started as a personal project to help better market myself and my books. I was tired of getting list after list where the only thing I saw was a hyperlink to a website. They may or may not have had a blurb or review under the link, but there was a lot of clicking involved.
...A LOT of clicking.
I bookmarked the sites I liked or thought I could come back to, and the link vanished into the vast sea of bookmarked pages.
So, in an attempt to help myself become a bit more organized and to make the websites and information a bit more accessible, I compiled a list of my own, printed the pages out and clipped them into a binder. I realized halfway through that this list could be of use to other authors seeking to market their work.
With that in mind, I've begun adding my compiled list to my site complete with links. Each button will take you to a page with information on the services I've found, including a block quote taken from the site regarding details and pricing, a small note on their sign-up sheet (if it's on the website) and a link to the site itself so you can follow up if you want.
Basically, it's a never-ending attempt to have author services in one place where you can compare details and pricing without having to jump from website to website. Being new to the author marketing scene can be very intimidating to some, and I want to help eliminate some of the information paralysis if I can.
Finally, if you know of an update that isn't reflected in the pages below, if you own the service and do not want it listed, or if you know of a service that is not listed, PLEASE TELL ME!! I do not want to be stepping on anyone's toes, nor do I want to have outdated information. I should be updating this list constantly, and I'm going to need your help to keep my list updated and accurate.
Note: This list is a very early version of what I'm trying to produce, and all the websites I compiled and put in a binder were found at least a year ago, if not longer. I am doing my best to double-check my sources, but if there's a website that turns out to be a scam or is simply no longer in existence, I ask for you to come back here and drop me a line, informing me. I will take it down and do my best to investigate so that my pages remain as up-to-date as possible.
